So, after a far too long absence we’re back to the best of our abilities. The server we’re currently at is not ideal, but the wonderful news of the Reunion couldn’t go without celebration.

We have added 30 files today, including Audio from the Press Conference and Guerrilla Gig, Video from various sources, including the full gig and press conference (watch with tissues nearby, I got quite emotional time and time again) and videos from Carl’s solo gig in support of Childline. Credit in each file.

We do plan to add all the media we can that may have surfaced during our long absence, and will be giving credit to each and every one of you. When geocities got shut down, the old Libertines.de site suffered, but we created an archive and hope to be posting it as a tribute of sorts sometime.

If you’re an avid collector of pictures, lyrics or media in general and would like to lend a hand to us in filling up the gaps, please let us know, we do want to make the Arks the best they can possibly be

As you may know, our old forum was suffering from spammers largely, so, in the spirit of beginning anew, we’ll be closing it down (except for the Arkadian lounge) and keeping it as read only. I’d like to invite you to join us over at The Arcady forums, which hopes to revive the spirit of the .org.uk forums of back in the day

Very likely loads of smallish updates will be happening throughout the next few days, so if you want to keep up to date, you can check back here or follow us on twitter.

Downloads system changed!

The downloads system was giving some trouble in certain browsers, so we’ve changed it. Please do not hot link to the files, link to the info page if you are to send the link to friends.

Also, all the old links for media you had will still work since we took care of using the same filenaming system let me know if you still have trouble!

New ad networks

We are testing some new ad networks to find the way to optimize the income from the ads, please, if you see popups, interstitials or any kind of offensive or damaging ads or malware reports, let us know so we can remove the network that caused the damage… we want only clean banners that are as little annoying as possible.

The networks we’re trying are listed here. We hope to remove the ads sometime in the near future, since our economy is approaching healthy levels, but we aren’t there yet, so please bear with us just a little bit longer.

If you are going to contact us regarding the ads or the new software, please email me directly, since it was me who broke it, heh. Thank you!

EDIT: After reading in some forums that there were virus threats and the like, we have removed the new ad networks and are working with controlled ValueClickMedia only. Please report any problems.

Hello Arkadians, welcome back! The Arks have missed you.

No new files right now, but we’re gathering what we’ve missed these past few months… so why not give us a hand? Our boys have been busy, we’ll love to share what they’ve done for all to see!

Long story short: we got hacked, moved twice off sinking servers, had to rebuild the site and system from the ground up, but we’re alright now! All that’s left is fix the formatting in the news and add the lyrics, we hope to be done very soon A new Zip download engine is coming and same goes for The List… but now we offer unrestricted downloads to all fans without registration!

We are now running with custom and alternative software that is less prone to be hacked (since nobody knows it, heh), and Wordpress with security patches and backups… the great thing about these is that we can get back up and running within minutes should it be necessary. The downloads are now available to everyone who visits and I have finally been able to figure out a system that will allow to more people to be behind the scenes, since due to lack of knowledge, the previous system relied entirely on me being available, this is The Albion Arks v2.0 so to speak…

We need your help in the following areas:

• Lyrics Managers - someone who knows and loves Lyrics, editing the lyrics will now be as simple as editing Livejournal Posts, so everyone interested is welcome to apply.
• Picture Managers - now it’s just a matter of uploading folders with the right name and give credit using a text file if you can use FTP, have good organization skills and love pictures… we’d love to have you on board!

As well as all the files you have found lying on your harddrive and we don’t have! You will be glad to know that our File Submission Engine finally works… so you can try it out

During the 2.5 server moves, we lost the videos for Killamangiro, Sedative and Pipe Down when Pete trashed the stage Live @ Transmission 18.08.06, any help will be greatly appreciated.

I want to thank every single one of you who showed support in any way during these difficult times, and apologies to anyone and everyone if I didn’t reply. Please feel free to contact us again, we will do our best to respond ASAP.

Our third Anniversary is coming! And we want it to be memorable! Keep your eyes open.

We’re staying!

Thanks to the generous spirits of someof our beloved Arkadians (Courtney, Nils, Tom, Anne and specially Don, who has helped us in repeated ocassions with very generous donations) we gathered enough money to pay our April bill! We also have some money left for next month, which should be covered with this money and the ads payments that will arrive on the 25th (they’re a 2 month payment of 70 USD) so we can say we’re sure to stay in the server until June 1st, by then, hopefully our financial situation will be better too, so keep fingers crossed, Arkadians!

It will take a bit to unpack the files we had to get ready for the move, but hope to have everything running by tomorrow. Also, good news is that the need to zip up so many folders, created several usable zips files for a finally working zip section. We are still going to be changing the system, but we are not sure yet when or how it’ll work. However we can assure you it’s going to be better than it how it works now.

We know we’ve promised changes and upgrades and actions and updates for very very long with no delivery, and although it is not a valid excuse, the reason it hasn’t gone through is that our lives changed A LOT in the past year.

I started working, quit school, moved homes, had a parent retire… all this affected me economically, emotionally and time-wise. The spam flooding our beloved site was a disgrace too that no matter what plugins we installed can’t quite be solved except by manual deletion, we’ve been thinking of ways to have a forum that protects us better and that looks as less of a target to spammers, but we don’t quite know how yet. I must also say, that my limited knowledge and having had to make up things as we went out of need and not quite having the chance to plan or even figure things out, made for a less than ideal system and we are seeing now the consequences of that.

However, one good consequence of my work having taking over my life, is that I have learnt a lot of things, and this will make for a better system to hopefully make the arks what they used to be. I love the guys as much as ever, and promised the Arks would sail. I intend to keep my promise.

Server move…

Arkadians… it’s time to move again. The ads never quite covered the costs of the dedicated server and at the moment I am at a really bad moment money speaking. I have a reselling account that I use for my work, and we’ll be moving the site there I think. We cannot rehost somewhere without trying and our current hosts would not have us back in shared hosting as we used too much memory last time.

The solution of moving to a shared account under my reselling one is not ideal, but it’s what can be done - we won’t be able to have lightbox downloads, which is what caused the memory problem originally, but we are going to try and keep all the downloads up and running. We are also trying to plan for a new system with single file downloads and ZIP downloads. Will keep you posted.

We need to have moved everything by April 3rd, which is when the site would be shut down due to non-payment. It is hopefully enough time for a transfer of the files - otherwise, it’ll take a while to reupload as I’m stuck on a rather slow connection. But other than that do not fret.

The other option relies on you Arkadians, we are 125 USD short on this month’s payment, we have been too busy yet ironically too broke to get the site fully up and running as we’ve wanted to for so long, so it is more self-sufficient. If you can donate within the next couple of days, please do so, if the payment is not done, the server move will have to go through. You will perhaps not notice. But thought you should know.

Libertines on BBC Radio 1 in the UK

At 7pm GMT on April 2 (Wednesday next week), Zane Lowe, well-known music DJ at Radio 1, will be playing ‘Up The Bracket’ as part of the second round of a series called ‘Masterpieces’. The album will be played out in full, gaps and all, no interruptions. How awesome is that ? There will be interviews and loads of other info about the album and the band, showcasing their influences and the people they then went on to influence. To learn more about the show : Click here . Also, if you have a Facebook, join in the Libertines ‘listening party’ by following this link (you’ll need to log in to sign up).Our contact at the BBC sent those sweet words about the event: “the idea of the whole series is to get as many fans of the album (as well as hopefully some converts) listening together in a big music loving community.” Well, what are the Arks if not a big music loving community ? So join the group, spread the word, and tune in on Wednesday. The Albion needs every man woman and child she can get her hands on.

Staff changes

The Albion Arks team is changing ! Our dear moderator and lyrics manager Inky finds herself with little time on her hands these days, and is no longer able to help out as she used to (and oh boy, I can’t begin to tell you how much and how efficiently she helped). The lyrics management might be changed as a result. We will let you know as soon as the details have been sorted.We want to thanks Inky for her time and help, it’s been awesome to have such a dedicated person onboard. We’re lucky and grateful to have her stay on the forum as a regular member. Thank you so much dear ! We’re also welcoming a new member in the team. Well, most of you know him already, but let it be said officially : Tez is now a full-fledged site admin ! He’s been helping us for quite a while now, and it was only fair to acknowledge how involved he is. Please be kind to him, he’s still a little green :tongue: But we love him
